NIC CHAIR MEETS NCCF FAMILY, PROXY FOR PRESIDENT ELLEN JOHNSON SIRLEAF

Monrovia, May 8, 2017: The Chairperson of the National Investment Commission (NIC), Etmonia David Tarpeh has disclosed Government commitment in seeking for investors who are interested in the agriculture sector value chain.

Madam Tarpeh made the assertion Saturday, in Tubmanburg, when she proxy for President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at a program that marked the official opening ceremony of the New Creation Christian Fellowship (NCCF) incorporated Bomi County chapter.

She extended the President’s warmest felicitation and best wishes to officers and members of the NCCF and partners of the African-American Business Foundation for this important initial step.

Madam Tarpeh, according to a research conducted intoned that agriculture holds the greatest potential for investment in the Country.

Based on the potential in the sector, the Chairperson of NIC mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture along with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry developed the Liberia Agriculture Transformation Agenda (LATA), which is a vision for economic diversification and industrialization of the economy.

According to her, Agriculture only grew 2.8% on average per year between 2005 and 2013 but accounts for about 50% of the workforce according to the Economic Stabilization and Recovery Plan (ESRP 2015).

The NIC Boss also considered Liberia needs for an investment in the mining, agriculture, safe drinking water production and communication.

The NIC approach is to encourage private investment in all sectors of economy.

The vision of NCCF/AABF to bring investors from across the world is to support government’s effort to promote Liberia as a preferred investment destination.

The NIC with strong supports of Ministries, Agencies and Commissions (MACs), development partners and sponsorship from the United Development Program (UNDP) produced the 3rd edition of Invest Liberia, the official investors’ guide to Liberia.
